Tapa Polynésien - Lot 336
Tapa Polynésien Fijian Islands, Tonga, Marquesas or Maori. 103 x 76 cm Note: Tapa is a bark cloth, a vegetable fabric obtained using the beaten bark technique, made in the Pacific islands. In Melanesia, tapa is made by men, while in Polynesia it's made by women. Traditionally, tapa fabrics were mostly used in their natural state, with some dyed yellow or red using plant-based dyes.
