ILES SALOMON / MAKIRA - Lot 259
ILES SALOMON / MAKIRA "Massue bouclier" Roromaraugi, carved wood, +-94cm. Note: It was used to deflect enemy fire. It has a broad-beaked or boomerang-shaped head, separated by a well-defined central ridge, with a spur at the back. The handle is often finished with an anthropomorphic carving and the whole thing is made of very hard wood. It was also used for war dances.
