Note: Namiki is a Japanese brand of writing instruments, particularly fountain pens. Namiki is most famous for its maki-e (Japanese lacquer craftsmanship with a wide range of fine and decorative arts) handmade on urushi-based lacquers.
Namiki Manifacturing Company was founded in 1915 in Tokyo. The result of years of research and a desire to develop a distinguished writing instrument that could tell a story, the founders, Ruosuke Namiko and Masao Wada, naval engineers, were the perfect embodiment of audacity. In January 1918, Namiki created a new company, Namiki Manifacturing Co.Ltd, and registered the names Namiki and Pilot to begin the adventure of Namiki fountain pens: a flight towards a total revolution in the world of scriptural art, the beginning of absolute happiness for writers wishing to make a name for themselves through refinement and luxury.
