ODIOT - Lot 124
ODIOT Part of a vermeil menagère by Odiot, Louveciennes model, decorated with a laurel garland looped with falling bases, engraved with the Visconti family coat of arms, Minerve hallmark 1st title (.950) and master goldsmith hallmark, 35 pieces. Note: In the first quarter of the 19th century, Jean-Baptiste-Claude Odiot (Paris, June 8, 1763 - Paris, May 23, 1850) built up the most successful French silversmith's firm, most frequented by all the European courts of his time. Delivering sumptuous dinner services and prestigious sets, such as the toilette of Empress Marie-Louise and the cradle of the King of Rome, Odiot was one of the most illustrious silversmiths of the First Empire and Restoration. The Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris houses an exceptional collection of 33 pieces of goldsmith's work and 176 original drawings from Odiot's workshop. Today, it is the most important public collection dedicated to the silversmith.
