A Chinese porcelain iron-red and grisaille "armorial" dish. - Lot 9
A Chinese porcelain iron-red and grisaille "armorial" dish. This is a chinese export porcelain plate featuring a european-style coat of arms at the center. The design includes a heraldic shield flanked by two mythical creatures, possibly a griffin and a lion, with a coronet above. The shield has a red and white chevron pattern, which may indicate a noble or aristocratic family crest. The border is adorned with intricate monochrome and gold detailing, depicting classical motifs such as drapery, floral patterns, and cherubs, reflecting european baroque or rococo influences. Possibly from the 18th or early 19th Century, when chinese porcelain was highly sought after by european elites. This plate is likely a custom-made armorial piece commissioned by a european family, a common practice in the qing dynasty"s export trade. D : 24 cm chips. Perfect conditon.
