A rare Chinese imperial "保和殿御用" carpet. An antique chinese - Lot 219
A rare Chinese imperial "保和殿御用" carpet. An antique chinese rug with a deep blue background and intricate patterns. The rug has a symmetrical design, consisting of multiple floral medallions arranged in a grid-like formation, surrounded by interlocking geometric motifs. The border is highly detailed, incorporating floral and symbolic elements in shades of gold, red, and green. The hall of preserving harmony 保和殿 (bǎo hé diàn) is one of the three main halls of the forbidden city in beijing, located behind the hall of supreme harmony and the hall of central harmony. Historically, it was used by emperors for important ceremonies and banquets. The phrase "imperial use" (御用, yù yòng) indicates that this rug was specifically made for use within the forbidden city, likely commissioned for the imperial court during the qing dynasty. 18/19th Centhury. D : 240 x 122 cm.
