Large guitar, Stratoskate - Lot 179
Large guitar, Stratoskate
"Hollywood", wood, metal. L: 83cm, W: 23cm, H: 8cm.
Note: The Stratoskate 'HOLLYWOOD', in Shell Pink, inspired by rider MIKE MIRANDA's BMX HUTCH HOLLYWOOD, is numbered OO5. Used by the band Ghinzu on their last tour in 2025 and immortalized in the hands of Ben Harper when he visited Belgium in August 2025, this model is steeped in history and aura. This Stratoskate in American maple features an ebony fingerboard, bone saddle, white mother-of-pearl bindings, oil-bath tuners, tune-o-matic bridge, French handcrafted P90 'MARCEAU' pickup and nitro-cellulose varnish. Its pitch is 580mm.
Having been reposted by legendary Californian skateboarder RAY BARBEE, the video of its making has reached a million views on Instagram. To own a Stratoskate is to acquire a piece of history, an exceptional guitar. Particularly prized by collectors, attracted by their uniqueness, design, craftsmanship and artistic approach.
Ben Harper owns one, as does Belgian musician Thomas Frank Hopper, reinforcing the Stratoskate's international reputation. Luthier Rafael van Mulders has seen his work recognized by musicians such as Lenny Kaye of the Patti Smith Group, Joe Walsh of the Eagles, and Stef Kamil Carlens of Belgian band dEUS. His work has been exhibited in prestigious galleries, such as Caroline Notté's Collectors Gallery, and acclaimed by the specialist press. And the luthier doesn't stop there: his collaborations with artists such as Denis Meyers and Arnaud Kool bear witness to the growing popularity of his creations. Other exciting artistic projects are already in the pipeline, heralding new collaborations to come.
