François AMISI Bangwile (Lusangu, 1935-2024 Lubumbashi, DRC) - Lot 28
François AMISI Bangwile (Lusangu, 1935-2024 Lubumbashi, DRC) (Untitled) Family. Oil on panel. 69 x 48.5 cm. Signed lower right, framed, circa 1960. François Amisi is an academician who created various pictorial styles. In the "flamme" style, the shapes of humans, animals and objects are slightly distorted by the glow generated by flames. In 1955-1956, he perfected the "bleed" style, in which shapes are modified by stained-glass effects. He then developed the "chopped", "cross" and "whirlwind" motifs. His colorful world brings to life scenes of everyday life in the Congo, rich in movement, charm and intensity, making tradition universal thanks to his unique, timeless style.
