LUBANZA PIERRE MADIATA (Kinshasa (DRC), 1962, lives & works in Kinshasa) Eyes and Thoughts. This metal sculpture reveals an organic, abstract form that subtly evokes a head or mask. Through fluid curves, textured surfaces and dynamic negative spaces, the artist captures movement and inner tension. The work reflects her mastery of metal and her ability to transform matter into expressive, symbolic form. Bronze sculpture on exotic wood base. 16 x 24x 16 cm. Signed, dated "Kin 92" and titled on the bronze. Ex Belgian collection. Lubanza graduated from the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Kinshasa, then continued his studies at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (ESBA) in Paris before earning a degree in aesthetics and art theory from the Sorbonne University. A specialist in metalwork and engraving, he is widely recognized as one of the leading medal makers in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
