Christian BADIBANGA (aka 'Ba') [Kinshasa (DRC), 1987, lives and works in Kinshasa] Fred Mixed media on paper. 40 x 33 cm. Signed and dated 2024 lower right. Provenance: Artist's studio. Christian BADIBANGA, also known as "Ba", is a graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in Kinshasa. Ba has developed a contemporary abstract artistic style, moving away from traditional academic figurative painting. For lack of means, he uses spilled coffee, glue and black oil paint on his canvases, but above all, he sews recycled buttons, gleaned at random from local markets. Ba expresses a Bantu symbolism and sometimes a universal scope through his anthropoid shapes and figures, sewing his buttons in spirals, giving matter, volume and color to his paintings. His unfinished lines represent infinity, the ups and downs of our lives, and particularly his own.
