Freda Price PETYARRE (1984)
My country, signed on the back and dated 2021. Acrylic on canvas. 150 x 95 cm. Certificate. Freda is an emerging artist who follows in the footsteps of her famous mother, Anna Pitiara. Working mainly in black and white, Freda delicately paints her country from an aerial perspective. She maps the undulations of sand dunes, holes in rocks and waterways, while showing the textures of the landscape. Freda has shown great passion and potential from the earliest stages of her painting career. She hails from the Utopia region of Central Australia, some 300 kilometers northeast of Alice Springs, home to many well-known artists, including Gloria Petyare, Emnlly K ame Kngwarreye, Able Loy and Polly Ngale.
