Alfred OST (1884-1945) - Lot 346
Alfred OST (1884-1945)
Architectural and religious composition. Ink drawing on paper, signed. 35.5 x 27.5cm. Note: Alfred Ost was a Belgian artist marked by early training and decisive friendships. His family moved to Mechelen, where he lived until 1903. There, he attended the Academy of Fine Arts, already developing a personal style nourished by observation and expression. During this period, he made friends with Rik Wouters, Prosper de Troyer and Frans Mertens, the latter later becoming his biographer. These encounters, as well as his Malines roots, played an important role in shaping his artistic universe.
