Set of 8 photographs depicting scenes of daily life, supplie - Lot 381
Set of 8 photographs depicting scenes of daily life, supplies and mutual aid after the bombing of Berlin, 1944.
Copyright Transocean - Europapress Berlin. Mention of distribution SADO Bruxelles.
The set includes some of the Royal Air Force's first official photographs of Berlin after its fall, taken from a low-flying Mosquito aircraft by a film production unit. The images bear striking witness to the devastation of the German capital.
One photograph shows the Brandenburg Gate, surrounded by the rubble of destroyed government buildings.
Other shots document the aid given to the victims: a sister of the NSV (Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt) distributing hot meals to people who had lost their belongings in the bombing.
