A pair of Japanese samurai armor (kote) - Lot 144
A pair of Japanese samurai armor (kote) These are kote, the arm guards from traditional Japanese samurai armor. They protected the warrior’s arms from the wrist to the upper arm, including a hand guard at the end. Made with a fabric base, chainmail, and small iron plates, they balanced protection and mobility for combat. The decorative lacing and patterned fabric reflect the craftsmanship of Edo-period samurai gear. 19th century. Edo period. L: 90 cm.
