Hamadi BEN SAAD (1948) - Lot 147
Hamadi BEN SAAD (1948)
Untitled, (multiple faces), oil on panel, signed and dated 96 in the lower left corner, 106 x 74 cm. Note: Hamadi Ben Saad (1948–2025), a self-taught Tunisian artist and former elementary school teacher, began developing a personal, expressive, and deeply rooted body of work in 1976, inspired by three years at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris. Working with found materials (kraft paper, newspaper, cardboard, posters, fabric), he created works in the spirit of Arte Povera and New Realism, independent of trends and conventions. Exhibited at the École de Tunis as well as in France, Italy, Switzerland, and Denmark, his style—with its emotional depth and understated color palette—is recognized as a significant contribution to contemporary Tunisian painting.
