PARIS, probably from the Nast factory, circa 1810 - Lot 37
PARIS, probably from the Nast factory, circa 1810 Cylindrical cup and saucer in hard porcelain with a polychrome trompe-l’œil design of playing cards scattered across a black background, the borders outlined with gold fillets. Painted mark “G.D.” or “9.D.” on the underside of the cup. Note: An almost identical design—featuring polychrome playing cards set against a black background—is documented on a cup and saucer from the Parisian Nast factory circa 1810, sold at Christie’s. Similar designs were also produced in Derby and Vienna during the same period.
