A pair of Chinese porcelain famille rose compagnie des indes - Lot 45
A pair of Chinese porcelain famille rose compagnie des indes dishes. This plate is an interesting and unique example of chinese export porcelain, likely made for the european market during the 18th or early 19th Century. The design features a central scene with a tree bearing multicolored blossoms, 2 dog and a hat , possibly representing a scholar or a mythical figure. The landscape has a whimsical quality, with bold strokes of yellow, pink, and brown adding texture. A notable detail is the flying bird carrying what appears to be a chinese knot or tassel-like object, adding a symbolic touch. The border is adorned with european-style scrollwork, interspersed with small, stylized masks or grotesque faces, which were common decorative elements in export porcelain intended for western collectors. This mix of chinese and western artistic elements suggests it was produced in jingdezhen or canton (guangzhou) specifically for european clients. The plate"s vibrant colors, gilded details, and finely painted decorations make it a striking example of cross-cultural artistic exchange during the qing dynasty. Qianlong period. 18th Century. D : 22,5 cm. Repaired.
