A l'étude" or "L'astronomie" clock. Bollard clock depicting a young woman dressed in Etruscan style leaning on a bookcase forming the bollard and reading. An armillary sphere adjoins the other side of the bollard, set on a sea-green marble terrace decorated with a frieze of palmettes and standing on four toupie feet. Gilded bronze with ground gold and leaf for the terrace. Dial signed Bret in Paris. One finial needle. Approx. 35 x 30x 10 cm. Missing needle, chip in the dial enamel and gilding to be cleaned and revised. Missing balance wheel. Wire suspension. A similar clock is in the collections of the Duesberg Museum.
