Larry CLARK (1943) X SUPREME - Lot 4
Larry CLARK (1943) X SUPREME Billy man X SUPREME. Screen-printed skateboard. 79 x 19.5 cm. Inscription "TULSA, Billy Mann 1968". Signed by hand. Note: Larry Clark is an American photographer and filmmaker known for his raw depictions of youth culture. Often at the heart of controversy, Clark's black and white images capture sexuality, drug use and violence, as in his photobook Tulsa (1971) and his first feature film Kids (1995). Able to establish an intimate relationship with his subjects, Clark explains, ‘I'm a storyteller. I've never been interested in taking a picture and moving on. I like to stay with the people I take pictures of for a long time’. Born on 19 January 1943 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Clark studied at a commercial photography school after working as an assistant to his mother, a baby and infant portrait photographer. Clark currently lives and works between Los Angeles and New York. His major retrospective ‘Kiss the past hello’ was presented at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris in 2010, and solo exhibitions have been held at the Urbi et Orbi gallery in Paris, the Taka Ishii Gallery in Tokyo and the International Center of Photography in New York.
