Henri EVENEPOEL (1872-1899) "Le Pardon de Sainte-Anne à Auray". Oil on canvas mounted on mahogany panel. 36.5 x 51.5 cm. Note: Represents the procession of the Grand Pardon de Sainte-Anne d'Auray in Quiberon Bay, Morbihan, Brittany. Henri Evenepoel, who died aged 27, studied with Gustave Moreau at the Ecole des Beaux-arts in Paris, alongside Matisse and Georges Rouault. He was the precursor of a certain fauvism in Belgium. Several wax seals on reverse. Framed.
